Quo Vadis, BMD? Research Projects at BMD Steyr – An Experience Report
نویسنده
چکیده
BMD Steyr is Austrians leading producer of accountancy software. Although we are still working with Cobol, experience is more important than novelty in the era of Euro and Y2K. In some years, however, we will need a new product to be able to keep our shares of the market. Therefore we started two research projects, one with the aim to stabilize the current product and one with the aim of implementing a new kind of accountancy software. We are presenting our strategy, special problems, and our experiences.

Brain injury management: quo vadis?
At the 2005 CNS meeting, this paper was part of a session devoted to current management strategies and neurosurgical treatment algorithms derived from both clinical experience and evidence-based medicine. The overall theme of the meeting was “Quo Vadis?,” or “Where are you going?,” a theme that emphasized future developments in neurosurgery. This chapter will integrate the specific session’s fo...
متن کاملHow to Teach Object-Oriented Programming to Well-Trained Cobol Programmers
Introducing object-oriented programming to old-style programmers is a rather hard task. This paper shows how this job was done at BMD Steyr, Austrians leading producer of accountancy software. A special course for former Cobol programmers was offered. This course is based on the principle that one should first learn data abstraction before one starts with object-oriented programming. Its struct...

Background: Bone mineral density (BMD) changes during the course of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The present study was designed to investigate the status of BMD in patients with RA treated with anti-rheumatic drugs. Methods: BMD at the femoral neck (FN-BMD) and lumbar spine (LS-BMD) were measured by dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) method using Norland densitometer. Disease activity (DA) wa...
متن کاملA Candidate Gene Association Study of Bone Mineral Density in an Iranian Population
The genetic epidemiology of variation in bone mineral density (BMD) and osteoporosis is not well studied in Iranian populations and needs more research. We report a candidate gene association study of BMD variation in a healthy cross-sectional study of 501 males and females sampled from the Iranian Multi-Centre Osteoporosis Study, Shiraz, Iran. We selected to study the association with 21 singl...
